Kid-Lit Privacy Statement 

Kid-Lit respects your privacy.  Any information you provide us with will be used only according to the conditions explained below.  

Kid-Lit only collects information that you supply directly.  We do not share nor do we plan to share any information about our users that is personally identifiable.   

Information Supplied by or About Children

We only collect the following information if you choose to enter a comment on a book.  We are interested in collecting your child’s opinions on children’s books. In addition to his or her opinion, Kid-Lit asks for your child’s gender, age, zip code and birthday (day/month).  We ask for your child’s birthday to help us uniquely identify him or her. We may have, for example, more than one John from Boston, Massachusetts. By using birthday with name and zip code we can separate one John’s comments from the others.   This way we can see all of the books which this specific child did or did not enjoy.  If we do not ask for this information, then we would have to use a password system to uniquely identify your child.  Most users find passwords are bothersome; we prefer to try to get along without them. 

We never publish a child’s birthday.  We use this inside Kid-Lit for identification purposes only.  We do publish your child’s first name, age, and gender along with his or her comment. 

Information supplied by adults

We request first name and zip code from adult reviewers.  We display your first name with your comments.  

Kid-Lit Mailing List

If you choose to join the Kid-Lit mailing list, we ask for your full name, full address and e-mail.  We ask for your mailing address to notify you if your e-mail is non-deliverable.  In this case you may receive a postcard from Kid-Lit via standard mail asking you if you would like to re-join.  We do not share nor do we plan to share our mailing list with any other company. 

Does Kid-Lit Use Cookies?

Kid-Lit uses cookies to build your library list.  The only information this cookie contains is the books you want to put in your list. We do monitor traffic on our site to help us make our information more useful to you.  We record which areas of Kid-Lit were visited and which search items are most popular. This helps us in our design and layout.  We use this information in aggregate; we do not review this data for each and every Kid-Lit user.
